A resurgent Medvedev secured his first title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's first trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

The win also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 championships at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

His retrieving strategy and frequent outbursts on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play positively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early-game chances in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
