Commanders Coach Accepts Responsibility for Leaving Jayden Daniels in Game Before Significant Harm

The Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has admitted he shares some the fault for a major injury to the squad’s quarterback, Jayden Daniels.

Details of the Injury and Context

Daniels, who had one of the greatest first-year performances in history last season, sustained a displaced elbow joint in the Sunday loss to the Seahawks. Even though Daniels passes with his right arm, the injury has left his season in doubt. The injury was serious enough that the television broadcast avoided showing replays and several athletes looked away as Daniels was treated by medical staff.

Criticism and Leader’s Reaction

Coach Quinn faced criticism as many felt Daniels should not have been on the field in the first place. The incident occurred in the final period with the Washington trailing 38-7, rendering a comeback unlikely. It is common in such circumstances for clubs to put in their reserve QB to prevent harm to their starter.

“I understand. I’ve been thinking about it constantly, too, and, wow, I missed it,” Quinn remarked of his choice to keep Jayden in the game. “That is 100% on me.”

Aftermath and Team Prospects

Mariota will be the team’s primary QB from now on, but he will lead a team in disarray. After reaching the NFC championship game last season behind the rookie’s excellence, the team have struggled currently. They also saw injuries to cornerback Marshon Lattimore (ACL tear) and pass-catcher McCaffrey (broken collarbone) on game day, and have a host of other key players on the injury list. The Commanders are 3-6 on the season, and it would require a massive turnaround for the club to reach the postseason.
